Automation transport system for "Non Conveyable Goods"

Van Riet Material Handling Systems

Van Riet Material Handling Systems has been a specialist in the design, integration, installation and maintenance of automated transport systems for more than 65 years. The success of Van Riet is found in the delivery of customer-specific solutions for complex logistical challenges for their customers.

De challenge
Van Riet had secured an order from one of their customers at an airport in Germany to implement a system for the handling of so-called non-conveyable goods. The system was intended to replace the existing system, in which parcels were processed by hand. System uptime was extremely important; major disruptions or breakdowns were therefore not an option for the realisation of the new system.

Result
Batenburg JB Systems realised the automation for this installation in very close collaboration with all parties involved. This installation consisted of a redundant PLC system from Rockwell with a redundant ControlNet network. Thanks to the excellent cooperation of all parties, the realisation took place without disruption to the primary processes of the end customer.
