The challenge
The outdated automation system of the discharge pipe installation on the Rolling Stone of Tideway had to be replaced for PLC and SCADA systems, which in turn are state of the art, and the software had to be upgraded to the latest version of the Huisman software standard. Apart from the automation, the system also had to be mechanically overhauled in this shortest time possible.

Result
A short conversion time, during which both the mechanical part and the automation are addressed, produces a lot of complexity when the ship is in dock. This requires thorough preparation with as much advance testing as possible in order to be able to work as efficiently as possible during the short conversion period.

Batenburg JB Systems performed the migration from Mitsubishi Melsec to Siemens S7, while the SCADA system was replaced by Citect.
